12" x 32" Acrylic on 2 Canvases

This is an acrylic painting for the final of my life drawing class. It's slightly different from what I had when I turned it in for my final. I added lots of more stuff since then, made it more detailed, adding shading into the grandfather clock, swirls inside, a cityscape, clouds, and a moon. Well anyways... the theme of the final was "my animus" which can mean a number of things. It can mean: things you hate/animosity; something that drives you; or masculine part of a woman's personality (vice versa). And with that in mind, I chose my final to be about time. I always pictured time to be a evil little villain, always teasing people and throwing them off track... trying hypnotize em with its hands and face... and always taking time away and never giving it back. As so it seems to me. I REALLY HATE TIME! it's never on my side and it never does me any good. :/

As for the painting, I'm really proud of it. I think it turned out well. It's my second attempt at painting, but my first attempt at painting human anatomy. I really like how the feet came out, but the hands I know I could have done a better job. Just looking back now, I see a lot of things that I would wanna change. Like making the position of the hands a bit lower and the clock a bit more human-like by detailing the face. I would just fix the overall composition around the middle area... but oh well.. the painting is done and gone. It's off with my friend. Gave it to her for her birthday :)

I'm going to start experimenting more with acrylics and see what I can do. I think I found my niche in painting! :P
